If you’re a fan of art, food and music, look no further than The Galeries!  The Galaries is turning into a hub of colourful and cultural experiences to celebrate the turn of season. The inaugural SPRING SOCIAL will run over four days from Thursday 24 September – Sunday 27 September 2015 showcasing The Galeries’ versatility as both an evening and weekend destination.

SKYBLOSSOM, a large scale art installation will takeover the central void to launch the festival, setting the scene for a bustling market place of specialty pop-ups, bespoke flavours and a slew of store deals that celebrate the art, music, food and fashion that Spring has to offer. Inspired by the Cherry Blossoms of Japan’s own Sakura Matsuri festival, the art work occupies over eight meters of vertical space. In Japanese culture the cherry blossom represents the fleeting beauty and fragility in life and so customers are encouraged to take a moment to consider the beauty and joy of spring in the city as they travel between floors underneath the expansive moving mural.

The Ground Floor will become the meeting place for desserts, drinks and entertainment. Black Star Pastry, which is set to open in The Galeries’ long-standing store Books Kinokuniya in October, will be hosting a co-branded pop-up store with the city’s most extreme ice cream, N2 Extreme Gelato boasting a bespoke Cherry Blossom dessert as well as Black Star’s signature Watermelon Cake. Sydney’s handcrafted donut delivery service, Grumpy Donuts will host its first ever pop-up store, providing a special selection of its fun flavours. Also popping up for the first time is The Feather Tribe, an artisan homeware store, appealing to the niche homemaker and trinket lover. The Art house pop-up bar will be the place to sit and sip on cocktails whilst listening to FBi Radio’s newest talent as they perform each day. Lychee Mojitos and Cherry Sours embrace the turn of the season as the perfect drinks for the warmer weather.

The offers do not stop on the ground floor. The recently opened, Yayoi will host a Sake barreland tasting sessions with its qualified Sake sommelier. Lotus will be serving its bespoke Lo-Tea, alongside chocolate tastings for passers by. For a more sizable meal, sit down and experience Chris Yan’s modern take on Chinese with the restaurant’s $49 degustation menu that will run throughout the SPRING SOCIAL.

Not to be missed is the GIF Booth, set up on Level 1. Not only does this animated social booth let you take and share moving images to your personal social channels, but visitors that post from SPRING SOCIAL on instagram, follow @thegaleries, and tag #springsocial15 will go in the running to win a trip for two to Japan during cherry blossom season in 2016.

It’s the season that puts a spring in everyone’s step, and The Galeries’ have added extra bounce bringing together an exciting curation of art, food and music for SPRING SOCIAL. Day and night, weekday and weekend; mark the dates with your friends: its time to discover and play.
