Spectrum Now Festival @ The Domain has begun and we simply can’t wait. As well as revealing the delicious food and drink on offer throughout the festival, a selection of top-notch artists and nightly house bands have been added to the bill.
Hayden James, one of Future Classic’s hottest acts, will be bringing his summer house jams to the new Big Top stage on March 3 as part of a free all-ages show which will set the tone for the remaining 10 nights of ticketed happenings. Electronic maestros Wave Racer and Paces will be opening the evening’s proceedings with their signature swag. Music fans should register to attend via spectrumnow.com.au.
The free music continues on March 7 as Spectrum Now Ambassador David Campbell and Tom Sharah host a giant Broadway sing-a-long extravaganza. Celebrity friends, Ben Mingay, Mitchell Butel, Erin Clare, Hilary Cole and Casey Donovan will gather round the piano for the Marie’s Crises pop-up courtesy of the Hayes Theatre Co.
Foodies will be spoilt for choice down at the Domain this March 3 – 13; Burgers by Josh will be serving up specials including the Lisa Simpson, Fat Tony and Porky The Pig, while creators of the infamous Ramen Burger, One Tea Lounge will be bringing diners their green tea infused Matcha Baoger. For those with a sweeter tooth, Gelato Messina’s Milk Bar will be stocking up it’s shelves with four new gelato chocolate bars and mixing up thick shakes, whilst Black Star Pastry will be collaborating with N2 Extreme Gelato on a medley of exclusive desserts. Wing Kingdom, Langos Love, Rangers Texas BBQ, Playa Takeria, Urban Pasta, POKLOL, Tsuru, Shallot Thai and Dainty Dumpling House will also be on hand with exciting menus to whet the appetite.
To wash it down, admirers of fine craftsmanship should head to the Little Creatures Beer Garden to enjoy their limited edition summer release ‘Dog Day’ as well as craft beers and ciders on tap. The rooftop bar will host beer workshops at weekends too. Over at the Sideshow Alley, guests can sample a Hendricks and tonic with Messina cucumber gelato before having their fortune told in the Portal of Peculiar. Meanwhile at The Hendrick’s Gin Emporium of Oddities showgirls, circus performers and snake charmers will collide.
Bringing a South American flavour to Friday nights is the LATAM Friday Fiesta with food stalls serving up South American specials. Festival goers will also be able to master the art of Latin dance with classes from Oliver Pineada, Tango Tangueros and the La Fiesta Dancers. The Latino ambience will thrive with Ganza Project’s samba tunes, Latin Kaos’ Merengue hip-hop and DJ Don Juan x DJ Dante Rivera will go head-to-head in an R&B and hip-hop showdown. LATAM is also offering attendees the opportunity to win a Business Class trip to experience the fire of South America firsthand.
Experience even more memorable musical moments as Spectrum Now Music Ambassador, Megan Washington and legendary Australian singer-songwriter Richard Clapton, have been revealed as two of four surprise talents participating in the RocKwiz Live and expanded RocKwiz Orkestra, featuring Vika and Linda Bull show on March 10. Brian and Julia will put Megan, Richard and their teammates’ music knowledge to the test with their infamous quiz in the Big Top circus tent.
Local legends Joyride, Rolling Blackouts Coastal Fever, Dustin Tebbutt and Montaigne will be taking to the Big Top stage alongside festival headliners The Jesus and Mary Chain, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Calexico, Missy Higgins, Birds of Tokyo, Augie March, Seekae, Alvvays, U.S. Girls, Jonathan Boulet and Hot Dub Time Machine.
Each evening, an assortment of house bands will be gracing the festival’s second stage of entertainment. The whole family will be able to enjoy stellar performances from Vulgargrad, Malo Malo, Lyre Byrdland and the Hi-Tops Brass Band in addition to cover bands The Pigs and Furnace and the Fundamentals.
