Lobo Plantation, currently Australia’s Rum Bar of the Year (Bartender Magazine Awards 2016) and previous winner of National Cocktail List of the Year (Bartender Magazine Awards 2015), has announced a complete shake up of its cocktail menu, with 12 out of its 16 cocktails being changed.
To celebrate the launch of the new cocktails, Lobo Plantation is throwing a Saturday launch party, ‘Don’t forget the rum!’ and the best part, the drinks and food is on the house!

‘Don’t forget the rum!’ pays homage to one of Lobo Plantation’s Senior bartenders, Ryan Snedden, who made it to the final three at the 2017 Bacardi Global Legacy Cocktail Competition. With the competition awarding creativity and technique, Ryan was looking good to take out the top prize, but when delivering his final cocktail, Wanderlust, he left out the main ingredient; Bacardi Rum! While devastated at the time, Ryan has now seen the lighter side of his mistake and the new menu and launch party is shaped around this experience and also highlights how amazing rum works in cocktails, and how talented The Lobo team is at creating market leading cocktails.
“The new cocktails we are launching are like nothing we’ve produced before, the team has created something truly special” said Jared Merlino, GM and co-owner of Lobo Plantation. “We love a piss take, so theming the new menu and the party around Ryan’s hiccup seemed like a bit of fun. But it is also a way of steering people towards drinking more Caribbean rum, a product we obviously love! We are so proud of the work Ryan, and the team as a whole, have done in the past year and this menu is no exception, the new cocktails are world class and really highlight the versatility of rum.”
Further to announcing the new cocktail list, Lobo Plantation is due to be granted an extension of its trading hours to1am, six nights a week, Monday to Saturday, commencing from April 1st.
