The Strand Arcade opened its doors to customers for a special evening to launch Spring/Summer
2014 and honour the remarkable retailers whose expertise and authentic know-how has been a
signature of the arcade since 1891. This year’s Evening With Our Designers event took customers on
a special journey, meeting the makers and experiencing very special one-night-only, bespoke
experiences.

The night attracted over 2000 shoppers and brought together some of Australia’s biggest names in
fashion including designers Nic Briand and Susien Chong from Lover, Dion Lee, Leona Edmiston, Joe
Farage, Louise Olsen from Dinosaur Designers; superstar model Erin Heatherton; musician/model
Matilda Dods; blogger Sara Donaldson; TV personality Magdalena Roze; and the beautiful former
Miss Universe Australia Renae Ayris.

Upon entering the arcade, guests were greeted with a hand-illustrated map by artist Sarah
Hankinson outlining the interactive schedule for the evening. Floral extraordinaire Mr Cook framed
the entrance with an array of beautiful blooms, set between striking hand illustrated archways.
The Ground Floor is where the journey begun as guests discovered an array of delights. The
Gentleman’s lounge attracted style-conscious men, with the dapper Strand Hatters team
customizing hats as guest sipped on beer from Young Henry’s whilst having their shoes shined.
Shoppers also lined up to meet renowned men’s blogger Giuseppe Santamaria from Men In This
Town.

Crowds gathered at Hunt Leather to receive complimentary premium leather luggage tags with their
initial franked on the spot. Restaurant Pendolino offered tastings of their exquisite hand-made bread
while fine-food providores Fomaggi Ocello and Victor Churchill showcased rare cheeses and
charcuterie delights. To complement the culinary offering, La Farra and Cavazza Prosecco bars
popped up on the Ground Floor and on Level 1.

 
Level 1 and 2, saw DJ’s Leah Simmons and Sam Francisco set the mood for customers who
meandered from store to store. Cult women’s retailer The Corner Shop partnered with blogger Sara
Donaldson of Harper & Harley who guided customers towards the most stylish selections and men’s
retailer Mister Mister monogramed leather patches on their custom jeans.
To complete the journey, Level 2 featured a gourmet tasting of macadamia’s harvested by The Nut
Shop. Guests sampled a variation of flavours and took away a special personalised mix of their
favourites.

 
VIP guests hosted in La Rosa restaurant were treated to a very special performance from the star of
the Spring Summer 2014 evening-wear campaign, songstress Matilda Dods. The beautiful emerging
talent uncovered two of her latest self-written singles with a captivating acoustic set.
The Strand Arcade also unveiled volume 3 of 1891, a bi-annual paper that highlights the covetable
style found at the iconic shopping destination. The idea of journey carries on, with 1891 evoking
summer emotions with a dreamy holiday shoot, featuring a sun kissed Erin Heatherton and very
handsome Jordan Stenmark.
